Quincy, IL

After a heartbreaking Springfield, we didn't have much time to think about it all as we headed back out to illinois for a 450 hot shoe national in Quincy. I have rode Quincy a few times and never liked the track and always struggled there. I rode my 09' all day. I didn't even think about riding my 06'. This would be the 1st race, I put full focus on my new bike and it was working pretty good.

I went out a won my scratch heat over Schnabel who has podiumed quite a few singles nationals this year and I felt pretty good. I had pole in the 3rd heat. Didn't get the best start in that heat and finished a 3rd behind Wiles and Carr. This put me inside back row for the final. I got a great jump and was up to 4th. I ran 4th for the first 5 laps or so right behind the leaders. I been running the outside line all day long and just about then, it went away. I started spinning and I almost went off the track one corner and lost a bunch of spots. I was back in like 13th after this big mistake. The last ten laps were good as I reeled some guys in. I passed King with like 4 to go and started reeling back in the pack of Bergen, J.Halbert, Mataya and Kirkness, but the race was over before I know it and I got 11th. That finish doesn't do me any justice for how I felt all day. 2-3 laps of bad judgment lost me 7-8 spots and its hard to make up on a track like this. A top 5 wasn't out of the question, but I learned some valuable information about line choice when we come back here again. We learned a lot riding the new bike, I had some good lap times all day and we had a lot of fun meeting a bunch of new fans. Dave Cory puts on an awesome show. See you all at the next one this weekend in Sedalia, MO for our next hot shoe. I raced this track last year and really liked it, so I can't wait to ride the 450 and the 750.
